So lets get down to business. A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I decided to start a diet together, being that we are both lazy and don't like to cook usually, we have vested most of our lunch time into microwaveable meals. The cheaper, the better. So for lunch everyday I have myself a delicious microwaveable lean-something-or-other.
I began to notice that the pictures on the boxes are awfully wrong about how the food usually looks, and voila! The Blog was born. Lets get started with today's lunch.
Michelina's! One of my most favorite treasures in the world. Only 95 cents right now at our local grocery store. How could you not love these? I have never tried the mannicotti. I am actually more of a frozen pizza kind of guy. But anything that proclaims in all caps "REAL CHEESE!" gets a thumbs up in my book.
Let me tell you what, microwaving the bad boy was like sitting in an Italian kitchen...ok maybe not really, but it sure smelled delicious. I was hopeful for my fluffy pasta creation. After letting it cool I ripped the lid off and received my just reward.

Hm. Not exactly as wonderful as I expected. The oozing cheese into the sauce made me a tad nervous, and the actually mannicotti was just SWIMMING in marinara sauce.
I will say, though, that it was actually VERY good. The cheese was very fluffy and the sauce was great. If you do manage to pick up one of these little fellas, I recommend having a slice of bread ready. You don't want all that sauce to go to waste (its all totally included in the calorie count, and a little bit of bread never killed anyone...unless they had a wheat allergy)
Since its the first post, I suppose I can give everyone the very first pictures I took, which inspired the blog all together.
Its our good old friend Michelina again! Another 95 cent lean meal. And look! "REAL CHEESE!" This looks promising. Look at how the pasta noodles of this treat just wave at you like "Hello! I am delicious, cheap and low calorie!" and the cheese on top looks like it will just melt into your mouth. With an obvious Italian Woman printed on the front, how could this "Five (REAL) Cheese Lasagna" not fulfill your fatty pasta desires.
Michelina really loves Marinara, like a lot. Like I think when she came up with these she decided to just grab a hose and get to work. The "REAL CHEESE" is very scarce. I would go back and ask for, "More please" but I have a feeling Michelina was give me a nice back hand and tell me to shut up and enjoy what I was given. Starving children in Africa would kill for pasta swimming in red sauce! Actually I think my boyfriend told me that a few days ago...
So there you have it! The first of, hopefully, many microwaveable meals gone terrible wrong. Come back tomorrow and we'll see what my freezer has to offer!
